Secret Honey Dresses

I'm sure this is old news to some, but the other day I stumbled across a Beauty and the Beast dress by the Japanese clothing brand Secret Honey. I was absolutely smitten with it, but after posting on a Facebook group about it, I was told that apparently the sizing is more pre-teen than teen. So sadly, with my non-petite frame, I'll have to just look for now, until they decide to make these in larger sizes.

This is the dress I saw. The top has images from Beauty and the Beast, done up as constellations. The model is wearing the dress with a turtleneck, but I can picture how lovely it would be to wear on its own as a sundress.

The bottom of the dress features images of the characters in Beauty and the Beast, in front of a series of castles.

What I love about Secret Honey's designs is that they are definitely inspired by Lolita fashion, and some of them verge on being too cutesy for my own taste, but I can see how most could be dressed down into more elegant and fairy tale inspired styles.

Even their sweaters are romantic-looking.

I love the design of this Tiana dress below. Once again, it's close to cosplay, but they interpreted her gown so stylishly.

I've seen plenty of Alice in Wonderland dresses, but this one is about the sweetest I've seen without veering into saccharine.

You know I love my maxi dresses, so I love this one, inspired by Aladdin.

Tangled lanterns adorn this dress.

And aren't these pants adorable?

This Megara maxi dress is beautiful too

Of all their designs, this Bambi one is by far the most Mori. I love love love it.

And they even have a dress that features my favorite tapestry art from Frozen! This art appears in several places in the parks, but I haven't found it on anything I've wanted to buy till now.

My favorite items I've found are this Beauty and the Beast dress.... Once again, it's paired with a shirt under it, but I can see it worn alone:

and this oh so stunning Merida skirt that could be GORGEOUSLY paired with a top for a Disneybound in the parks.

This Merida skirt I may just have to try to hunt down in the largest size Secret Honey makes and hope it fits.

So if you want to know what sort of "romantic Disney style" I'm talking about on this blog?

Yeah...this is pretty much exactly it.

A Haunted Mansion Lolita Dress

So this morning I was on the Disney Shop Parks app after a tip-off from Disney Fashionista informed me that the new Beauty and the Beast Dooney and Bourke purses were for sale as of today. I decided not to get the Dooney, but while I was on the app, I did a search under keywords "Haunted Mansion" and came across this "Haunted Mansion Lolita Dress" I don't think I've ever seen anywhere on the app or in Facebook groups or in the parks in person before.

It appears to be another optical illusion skater dress, like their "Haunted Mansion Maid" ensemble with its faux printed buttons and collar. But it appears at least from the pictures as if the ribbon bows are actually on there and not just printed. And I love the greyed-out version of the wallpaper at the bottom, and the greyed-out stripe on the rest of it.

There's hardly a bit of information about it...no description beyond the fabric content (94% polyester, 6% spandex) and the sizes to choose. There isn't even an option to find it in the realm of the Disney parks, so I'm guessing it's an app exclusive?

Has anyone seen this before and can tell me more about it? I'm quite intrigued.

Tomorrow, a post about another source for lovely Disney Lolita dresses.

If Only ... 36 going on 6

Every now and then I go to the Disney store or elsewhere and play a little game I call "if only this came in adult sizes!"

So let's play.

Zulily has a sale on some Disney clothes, and there are totally some "if only"s in there.

This adorable dress with lace detail.
This adorably patterned dress and capris leggings set.

These floral leggings! Be still my heart. WHY are you not in adult size??

and the Disney Store has this adorable Snow White patterned dress

But my favorite out of everything is this absolutely amazing dress. Why, oh why does this not come in a size for 36 year old, Disney??

A Paint the Night Tribute

Link

News just spread through the Disney community yesterday that next month, the Paint the Night parade at Disneyland will be going away. And I am absolutely gutted. Tom and I are planning to go to Disneyland (and the D23 expo) next summer for the first time, and the Paint the Night parade was one of our biggest anticipations.

Ever since Tom and I watched the video of the parade done by Jeff Lange of MouseSteps, we both agreed that even not having seen it in person, it was our favorite Disney parade anywhere.

There are rumors that Paint the Night might be switching places with the original Electric Light Parade in Disney World: ELP would go to Disneyland and PTN would go to Disney World. Only one problem with that: since our plans are to go to Disneyland next year, we aren't sure when we'll be making it back to Disney World, and with the transient nature of so much Disney magic (and how quickly it disappears) there's a good chance that we might not be in any Disney park at the same time as the parade.

So, pooey. Big bummer. A lot of people are quite sad about the loss of this hugely popular parade. Today, in homage, I thought we'd explore some Disney parks fashion options that glow in the night.

First, this adorable glow in the dark classic Disney "D" pin.

This beautiful Haunted Mansion "bride" set of ears. They aren't glowing in this photo, but they do glow!

Etsy seller Earsboutique sells several styles of glow in the dark Disney ears. The Tower of Terror ones would be especially sadly ironic to wear at Disneyland right now, as that attraction is also going away.

Light up Minnie ears

I really love these Paint the Night ears. They don't light up, but they definitely deserve mention.

I love that these ears look gorgeous both by day and night!

These ears are also florally adorable:

If you want a more ethereal glow, these ears might do the trick.

If you want to go full on Paint the Night homage, perhaps you could buy this fiber optic dress?

Or finish off your outfit with these sunglasses. Although wearing sunglasses after dark seems awfully dangerous to me.

Finally, you could always continue the spirit of the Paint the Night parade by wearing this shirt with the event logo, from TeePublic.

I can think of no better way to end this post than the words of the actual Paint the Night parade. The lyrics seem rather ironically bittersweet now. We all want to know...when can we do this again??

Verse:
Switch on the sky and the stars glow for you
Go see the world 'cause it's all so brand new
Don't close your eyes 'cause your future's ready to shine
It's just a matter of time, before we learn how to fly
Welcome to the rhythm of the night
Something's in the air you can't deny (deny)

Chorus:
Put your hands up 'cause the night is young
Kick your heels up when you join the fun
And as the magic sets us all aglow Oh oh
I gotta know (my friends) when can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
I never want this to end
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
I gotta know, when can we do this again?

Cool Dresses at Hot Topic

One lament I've had in the past is that it seemed like Hot Topic's Disney dresses were all a bit too graphic-y, and not romantic enough. The only exception to this seemed to be their beautiful Alice in Wonderland dresses, but that movie isn't one of my favorites.

Well, thankfully it appears HT  has listened! When I looked at their site yesterday, I saw several new beautiful, feminine and romantic patterned Disney dresses available.

The first I have to share is this one. I'm not about to toot my own horn and say I was apparently on-trend, but I DID talk about using princess toile fabric to make a dress almost two months ago. ;)

I love how subtle this Winnie the Pooh dress fabric is.

I also love this Hundred Acre Woods map print.

And this Ariel floral design is beautiful, and comes in both small and plus sizes.
